Environmental Policy

Here are some of the areas we have improved and are continually improving:

• LED lighting installed in 100% of bedrooms, hallways and other public areas.
• Smart controls installed in bedrooms to turn off lights, TVs and air conditioning when the room is not occupied.
• LED TVs installed in all rooms, with eco functions.
• Motion sensors installed in non-essential areas to turn off lighting when not required.
• Heat recovery system installed to pre-heat hot water using heat from the air conditioning system.
• Recycling of paper, cardboard, plastics and glass, currently at approximately 95%.
• Encourage guests to reuse their towels during their stay.
• Reduce paper usage through emails and the recycling of printer cartridges, as well as using recycled paper.
• Incorporate environmental management into everyday business practices.
• Use environmentally friendly cleaning products wherever possible.
• We use soap, gel and shampoo dispensers in the bedrooms instead of individual sachets.
• Work with our employees, suppliers, contractors and partners to minimise our environmental impact.
• Ensure that employees at all levels are aware of the potential environmental effects of their activities and the benefits of improved environmental performance, and provide specific environmental training to this effect.
• Communicate this environmental policy and promote environmental awareness amongst all employees.
• Display this policy statement in a prominent position within the hotel.
• Comply with all applicable environmental legislation as a minimum standard.
• Adopt a policy of ‘green procurement’, taking environmental factors into account in all purchasing and supplier contracts.
• Take all measures that are reasonably practicable to:
  • reduce waste at source;
  • dispose of final waste by the most environmentally suitable means. Our waste is disposed of using a recycling contractor for cardboard, plastic, glass and paper.
• All other waste is disposed of using a compactor machine.
• Encourage the use of public transport and provide facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, while aiming for continuous improvement.

This policy statement will be reviewed annually to ensure that it remains applicable to the activities of the hotel and any agreements made between the hotel and its stakeholders.
